Level Two
INTERMEDIATE ENSEMBLE
(GRADES K-2)
This class builds on the groundwork laid
down in the year 1 curriculum. Classes continue to focus on exploring the
world through music in a small group setting (class size 9-13).
Activities:
- Writing and reading music- notation and pitch at the same time
- Playing music, especially in ensemble, some emphasis on learning simple
melodies on the glockenspiel
- Movement in response to musical cues, folk dances
- Singing, chanting, and exploring the voice; rounds
- Listening to music and instruments from around the world- exploring
many cultures
- Individual expression through improvisation, free movement, vocal exploration,
and composing
Cost:
Tuition: $340/semester, due twice yearly*
Materials fee: $100 (includes Wooden Tongue Drum, Maracas, Musical
Spoons, Scarves, etc.)
Times and Dates:
Classes meet weekly, from September 21, 2009 to May 1, 2010
